99% I N V I S I B L E, the first solo exhibition by Mateo Chiriboga, held in 2019 at the gallery located in La Tola, No Lugar.
This contemporary art research work explores the relationship between certain everyday objects of the artist, such as musical instruments from his past and present, a children's piano, and a guitar, which were deconstructed. The parts and spaces of their surroundings, such as family and the spaces of forgetfulness that the family has for certain objects, were analyzed. These objects were reconfigured and intervened upon, creating two emblematic works of the exhibition: "piano memor" and "Rraguita." The work highlighted the interest in detachment, memory, and forgetfulness.
This exhibition marked a turning point in Mateo Chiriboga's artistic creation. Through the process of this show, he demonstrated the creation of art from the detachment of everyday objects imbued with memories, leading to reinvention and reaffirmation of musical creation through experimentation and diverse possibilities. Additionally, it involved the use of Dadaist methodologies.
